They don't ,but if your in padre this place has one awesome staff and the food can't be beat. My wife fell in love with this place and she is a hard sell. We tried several of the locals and cptn roys won
The food las delicioso but the service could be better they took an hour for them to get the order and I think it would be better if they going to take to longe to get order they ahould give chips and salsa LA comida estaba Rica Pedro el servicio estaba in poko lento o sin intencion de a tender duramos una hora para que No's tomaran LA orden
The name says Seafood but Mexican food would possibly be a better description. This converted fast food building is a good place to grab a nice meal in a low key environment. The girls on staff are attentive and the service is good. The food is well done and tasty. The Fumi salad is something unique that we always have.
First time here and we will definitely be coming back! The drive thru took about 10 minutes of waiting which is not bad because our food came out piping hot!!! Fresh, flavorful and well portioned!! We paid about $34 for a fish taco plate, fish and shrimp basket and a kids fish plate.
Great food good prices reel nice staff just like the sing says
The food is very good. Nice variety of entrees. Good prices. Fast service. And a fitting atmosphere.
Pleasant, good retro music. The food was good but the plates are not very large. Very good fries. Service was good.
Prepared our fresh caught trout. They'll cook one of 3 ways (grilled, blackened, or fried). $8.95 per person with 2 sides included. We had our trout grilled and it was delicious.
1st night in South Padre and I'm glad that my wife and I stopped to eat. The Camaronitas Diabolitas were great! Loved the blues playing in the background. Met Cap'n Roy. One heck of a nice friendly guy. Definitely stop in and eat!
Had the fish tacos 😋 and the charro beans were so delicious!! Very satisfying dinner. We went back a few days later. I had the pulled pork tacos and of course the charro beans. So good. Service excellent!!
The food was great, came out fresh and piping hot.
We tried Cap’n Roy’s for the first time and honestly, food was delicious and inexpensive. We tried the chicken fajitas and a big taco with fajitas. We had to go back to the restaurant with cash as their credit card system wasn’t working at the moment( which they eventually fixed) and the guy and the ladies were so nice!!! They gave us extra rice for our kid and a Dr. Pepper. Super decent, friendly and very responsible. Thank you!
Really good food some of the best I've ever had.
Favorite fish tacos on SPI. Small restaurant that you’ll miss if you blink, but one of my favorites!!
Always be my favorite place to eat shrimp tacos. Very tasty I love it
Customer service could use much improvement. None of the food was appealing besides my wife's oysters out of the 4 dishes total we ordered. The waiter showed no concern for our dissatisfaction in our visit. The 2 stars are for the reasonable cost.
Fried fish tacos just swim into your mouth, bursting with flavors that remind you your on vacay! Each crunch is not only satisfying, but thrilling. And the Cole slaw...WOW! Captain Roy's restaurant never seizes to amaze me! No other restaurant on the island comes close. Been coming here since childhood and now bring my own children. Keep up the great food guys!
Great tasting food and excellent service, makes you feel at home. Got the Shrimp Cocktail and Grilled Fish Platter, both were really tasty and perfectly seasoned. And prices are pretty cheap for the quality and quantity
Food was good and decent prices. I ordered the fish tacos and paid extra for blackened fish, and they had the seasoning but they sure weren't blackened at all. I'll skip the extra expense next time.
THE BEST SHRIMP TACOS I’VE EVER HAD!!!!Super fast service, and friendly staff.
6 of us were on South Padre Island for a weeks vacation. We wanted some Mexican food & this restaurant was recommended to us by a couple of young locals. It should be a warning sign when it says “Seafood” and “Mexican food” on the outside of the building. First we ordered some appetizers (Chips with salsa & queso), not too bad but we’ve all had better. We all ordered a Mexican meal & I don’t think any one of us cared for our meal. Would not recommend this restaurant, at least not for Mexican fare. The 2 stars I’m giving it, are for the staff, they were very friendly & accommodating!!!
Loved the food and the atmosphere! The food is very good and cost effective. The staff is very accommodating and attentive, as you have multiple servers checking on you. Stuffed Shrimp, Chips and Salsa are good starters. The Grilled Shrimp is to die for! Love the Fried Oysters, Fumi Salad and Frend Fries are stellar!Absolutley, love this place and will surely come back. Keep doing what you're doing!
Love signature shrimp dish!! Casual place right on main drive of SPI. Small with good parking for size of the place (near laser car wash). Friendly staff and clean restaurant. Specializes in seafood. I get the grilled shrimp tacos which come with beans, rice and lettuce tomato garnish. There are three soft tacos with cabbage, lots of shrimp and good sauce. I usually get a side of guacamole. Adam got their signature shrimp entree which you can order with different number of shrimps. The shrimps are wrapped in bacon with jalapeno and cheese and a food sauce. Choice of baked potato or fries- spoiler alert...the fries are REALLY GOOD. It comes with a fresh coke slaw which is slightly sweet- very tasty. In the past we have got the chips and salsa which were crisp and good. We have tried many items on the menu - all good. Adam said he would have the stuffed shrimp again which is unusual for him as he usually gets something different every time but he really liked the combination.
The fried shrimp was terrible. Flattened not round dry not plump. We could not tell From the taste we were eating shrimp . Definitely pond raised and not fresh gulf shrimp. You can tell the difference. Never again.
Fresh cooked food. Good service as well.
After a long day of travel, I was looking forward to a good meal. However this was not the place to get it, appearently. The food was dry and had no flavor. After sampling every option on the plate, and nothing was palatable, I decided to leave. But the wait staff was not very attentive, so i had to sit there another 10 minutes waiting for a check.
Customer service definitely needs improvement as well as the quality of the food. We ordered shrimp cocktail and received ceviche instead with three excuse that's how they create theirs. All our other dishes lined appetizing but tasted the complete opposite. It was definitely not as tasty as all the other restaurants on the island we experienced. Hopefully they can most importantly step up their customer service game.
Love this place! We eat here every time we come to South Padre. This time we had to do take out but the shrimp tacos were good as always!
Food was great service was good but not fair that we ended up pay 12.00 service charge because we were a family of 4 adults 3 children 2 which with disabilities and one that didnt even eat. Here we went to eat there cause were told not expensive and the food is good. We were going to go to Black Beards but wanted to save money to eat breakfast the next day. We ended up. paying what it would of cost at black beards. Only thing that was sad this wh weekend
The el kapitan pasta is the bomb
Cap'n Roy will greet you and make you feel welcome. Good food, fair price and nice staff.
The staff is really friendly, which is always a plus. We got the Monday seafood platter special. It's such a great deal! Our daughter got the child's fish and fries. It was way more than enough food. We also had the fried calamari, stuffed jalapeno, and oyster Vera Cruz. The breading on the fish was a little too thick other than that great food.
The service was a bit slow because the were so busy - and rightfully so! Brought our catch in, the fried it up and we devoured it.
I love this place! Excellent food!
This is, hands down, the BEST place to eat on the island! If you like shrimp, get the shrimp tacos with charro beans.... You're welcome 😉. Cap'n Roy's, thank you for always being awesome!
First time visit. Not utterly impressed. Food was fresh & hot. Ordered stuffed shrimp. The stuffing was mostly breading. Flavor was mediocre. I would give it another try.
When I visited they were busy and we had to wait for a few minutes to sit down. Well worth the wait. The food is expertly prepared and so incredibly fresh that it's hard to enjoy other seafood now!
Great foodDelicious food very fresh authentic seafood and Mexican.
Really great food and fantastic service; (Loud)
The quality of food is wonderful and the price is on par with the prices for other places. They have a side order of what looks to be coleslaw but doesn't taste like coleslaw. It's very good and has a sweet taste to it. Employees are always quick to respond to requests and are very obliging.
We had the shrimp tacos. Fresh and came out hot. Solid spot for takeout.
Cap'n Roy's is fantastic! Their shrimp nachos and stuffed jalapeño are phenomenal. There is a delicious blend of cheeses on the nachos that go with the shrimp very well. It's a small place with really friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommend!
Cap'n Roy's is a comfortable, home grown, locally owned restaurant located just north of the Causeway on Padre Blvd. The website is worth a look before you go, you'll find the complete menu as well as some interesting history on the owner (that would be Cap'n Roy) and the restaurant. It's not a fancy place, but we really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and good food. Cap'n Roy's is one of our favorite restaurants on the island; casual, calm, comfortable; there's something for everyone on the menu and the prices are very reasonable.
delicious food and great service
Not only were we personally greeted in a friendly way, the wait for food was short and the food was not only delicious but very reasonably priced! Portions were just right! Get there early because it's a popular place. You can't go wrong with the blackened fish and shrimp. We'll definitely be back!
Great portions
The food was good, the staff was friendly and the prices are reasonable.
Probably the best and most Economical Food we found in South Padre. Enchiladas were incredible.
Sunday dinner and all four of us had a fantastic low cost meal, last night here in South Padre and am sure glad we did not miss this place
Fast friendly service with flavor on par with a high dollar eatery. The seafood platter grilled had red fish, shrimp and fried oysters. The blackened fish soup was a mixture of seafood and noodles and fabulous.
Absolutely amazing!! Fast and friendly service. Great food. Great prices! The shrimp tacos are the best around!! They are super Celiac friendly if you ask!!
